Public Payphones in Hungary can be operated either by 10
20 and 50 Forint coins or phone cards issued by MATÁV.
Phone Cards are on sale at newsstands tobacconists post
offices supermarkets hotels travel agencies by street vendors taxi
drivers and in MATÁV's customer service offices and telephone shops
countrywide.

International Calls: Dial the international access code
(00) then the international country code area code (if any) and
subscriber's number. Or call the operator (free of charge subscribers'
lines only): 190.

low prices. NeoPhone is a calling card in the value of HUF 2000
and 5000, can be purchased at newsstands, Post offices, petrol stations,

Credit Card Calls: International call fees from Hungary
abroad can be charged to the account of the calling party's credit
card. Credit card calls should be registered at the operator. The
credit card identification number has to be given at the same time.
Country Direct: This service is a direct calling possibility
from Hungary abroad through the operator of the foreign country.
Country Direct calls may be made from any subscriber line or public
payphone station in Hungary to those countries where this service
has been already introduced. At public payphones a coin or a phonecard
has to be inserted to initiate the call but at the end of the conversation
the coin is returned (no unit will be utilised). The call fee has
to be paid subsequently by the called subscriber.
Hungary Direct: This service is a direct calling possibility
from abroad to Hungary through the operator of the Budapest international
exchange.

National and Local Directory Assistance: Enquires can be
made by name and address of a telephone subscriber about his/her
directory number or by a directory number about the name and address
of a subscriber.
