SZENT ISTVÁN BAZILIKA
(St. Stephen's Basilica)
Budapest's largest and the country's second largest church bears the name of the country's founder St. Stephen. It was designed by the renowned architects József Hild Miklós Ybl and József Kauser and it's construction went on from 1848 to 1905. In the Chapel of the Holy Right the mummified right hand of St. Stephen is preserved as a nationally respected relic. Church Art Collection look-out located in the tower. It can be found in the 5th district Szent István tér. To get there: by Metro lines 1 2 or 3 and then by foot. Open to visitors: Church: Mon - Sat 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sun: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Chapel: Mon - Sat 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
MÁTYÁS TEMPLOM
(Matthias Church)
The Buda Castle's church of Our Lady Virgin Mary Buda's main church in the middle ages and the coronation church of Hungarian kings. It received its name from King Matthias the great renaissance monarch. It received its neo-gothic form in the course of the transformation at the beginning of the century. Programs: from May to October there are organ concerts on Fridays and at the Sunday Mass (10 a.m.) church choirs perform the most beautiful masses in the literature of music. It can be found in the Buda Castle Palace Szentháromság tér (Holy Trinity square).
BELVÁROSI PLÉBÁNIATEMPLOM
(Downtown Parish-Church)
A unique compilation of different period architectural styles, from Roman to turn of the century classicism.
Location: 5th district, Március 15. tér, take Blue Line to Ferenciek tere or Tram 2 to Erzsébet híd.

DOHÁNY UTCAI ZSINAGÓGA
(Dohány street Synagogue)
- Europe's largest synagogue.
- Highly ornate and beautiful.
- At the corner of the old Jewish Quarter.
- Holocaust and Hungarian Jewish History Museum at its side.
Location: walking distance from Astoria (Red Line Metro) or Deák tér (central).
